About SWA
Stockport Women’s Aid (SWA) can offer support, advice and accommodation to women and children that have been affected by domestic violence and abuse.
This support and advice is offered in a variety of ways; SWA has a purpose built refuge building providing accommodation for women and children, but also through:

- outreach to women, to children and young people and targeted outreach towards BME communities;
- floating support;
- services to children and young people, including play sessions, crèche’s and peer support groups.
All our staff are trained in issues that affect women and children, and can help in safety planning, support towards leaving an abusive relationship, signposting to legal help and advice, applying for benefits, looking for a new home, and by listening and talking, helping women and children to work towards regaining independence, self esteem and a sense of safety and happiness.
