    What is Outreach?

    SWA understands that many women may wish to stay in a relationship. They may feel that they can’t leave at the moment, or just don’t want to. Other women may no longer live in an abusive situation, but would like to access the support that SWA can give.

    An outreach worker can provide support and advice over the phone, in a mutually agreed safe public place, or if the situation is assessed as safe, then they can come to visit at a private home.

    Outreach workers can talk to women about many different issues;
    • re-housing
    • safety planning
    • health services
    • immigration issues
    • benefits and welfare rights
    • legal advice

    but perhaps sometimes more importantly, they can be there to talk to in both bad times and in good.

    The Outreach Service is no longer incorporated within the refuge as we have acquired separate premises which offer weekly drop in sessions and coffee mornings at a safe venue that women can come to and ask questions and find out about the services they can get.

    We will support women in making the decision to stay or to leave, we aren’t here to judge or make your decisions for you.

    Telephone: 0161 477 4271 to speak to an Outreach Worker.
